Ruva's Recap : Network Night at Park Crossing

On Oct. 4, we had our first Network Night of the 2018-2019 school year and it was amazing.

The room was filled with community leaders, school personnel, students, parents, all individuals who were ready to talk and engage in authentic productive dialogue. As the newest member of MEF, I imagined what Network Night looked like, envisioning it to be a safe space where all members of the community could be heard and seek solutions-but it was so much more than I imagined.

From the MAX credit union representative providing information on scholarship opportunities to the law student offering mentorship and invites to a community event, the night was both an inspiration and success. I had an understanding of the concept and importance of this community's voice in a such a powerful place but after my first Network Night, I truly understood. It exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to experience what the community will have in store for the next one at Lee High School on Oct. 16!
