MEF and Montgomery Public Schools Introduce the WE C.A.N. Network

Last month, on November 17, the Montgomery Education Foundation launched an exciting new community engagement initiative in partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools. This initiative, the WE C.A.N. Network, was developed as a mechanism to create authentic community dialogue where all voices in the community - parents, educators, students, school leaders, clergy , business owners and more - could have their voices heard at our Network Nights. Network Night isn't simply about conversation but REAL action.

Our first Network Night took place at Sidney Lanier High School. Every participant during Network Night engaged in a series of activities specifically designed to ensure every challenge, issue, and opportunity to for change in our schools and communities was presented. We know that our best community partners are the people who we see when we look directly out the front doors of our schools and bringing together the community to combine our individual talents and resources will create the best outcomes for our children.

“This was the easiest thing I’ve done with the biggest payout.”
— Dr. Antonio Williams, Lanier High School Principal

The next We C.A.N. Network Night is set for Thursday, January 19, at Southlawn Elementary. For more information about the We C.A.N. Network click here or contact Community Programs Director, Dillon Nettles.
