DJ SPEAKS TO THE PRESS AT THE 2015 SUMMER PRESS CONFERENCE AT CARVER HIGH SCHOOL

Sebrena Whiting's son, DJ, will return to the Brain Forest Summer Academy for the second year as a rising 5th grader at Floyd Elementary. Last summer, DJ had the opportunity to share his own summer learning experience with Mayor Strange and local media during a televised press conference. DJ's mother reported back how important this program has been to him:

I chose the Brain Forest Summer Academy for DJ because it gave him the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming school year. He also had a chance to have fun with the many activities they offered. My overall experience with the program has been great. The teachers and staff were a pleasure to work with. DJ had nothing but good things to say about them. Since DJ attended the program, I noticed vast improvements in his core subjects. DJ benefited greatly from the time and effort put forth by his teachers.

Crystal Jones' daughter, Kynlee, first attended the Brain Forest in the summer of 2014. This year, she will return for her third summer with the program. As she transitions to 6th grade at Carr Middle School her mother writes she feels confident it will be yet another smooth transition to the next grade level:

Brain Forest Summer Academy has been a wonderful addition to Kynlee’s academic life. We learned of the program thru Kynlee’s third grade teacher, during a time when I was trying to find summer activities that were both fun and educational. Brain Forest provided both of those aspects and more. Kynlee has been exposed to many new learning experiences and adventures outside of the traditional classroom setting, as well developed new friendships and relationships. Participating in the summer program has kept her mentally stimulated and has made transitioning into the next grade levels so much easier. We no longer have to play catch up at the beginning of the year because she is already prepared and ready. In addition to learning,  Kynlee truly enjoys the program and looks forward every summer to participating. We are so thankful for Brain Forest Summer Academy and all that it has contribute to our lives.
